The main heroine, Menma (Meiko Honma), has been featured in this work, which has become a hot topic for its heartbreaking story about the bond between childhood friends and their growth, careful direction, and the event “ANOHANAFES.” held in Chichibu City, Saitama Prefecture, where the work is set. The smile on his face is so full of energy that it makes everyone around him cringe. The way she looks at me with her eyes slightly up is inspired by Menma, who is the smallest of her six childhood friends and has a mascot-like presence. The innocent cuteness of Menma is overflowing from the way she spreads her arms wide and catches the wind. The “white dress” is a key item in the story and Menma’s charm point. The all-white costume is difficult to create a three-dimensional effect, but the natural shadows are expressed by gradation painting.
