The bride played by Elsa Lanchester’s beautiful face, distinctive hairstyle, gray hair highlights, and even the tips of her outstretched fingers have been delicately sculpted into three-dimensional figures. In particular, the styling that uses safety pins and the stitched makeup are reminiscent of punk fashion, and I am impressed that the design was so sophisticated in 1935, when the work was released.
