The total length is 1276mm (1670mm when equipped) and uses 6.5 x 50mm bullets. The developer is Nanbu Kirijiro, a subordinate of Arisaka Nariaki. Based on its predecessor, the 30-year-old rifle, improvements were made based on battle lessons, such as simplifying the bolt structure, adding safety measures, and adding a dust cover to prevent dust.
